Summary/Abstract: The topic of this essay is associated with topographic studies – the en-vogue of today’s literary science – concerning the perception and (re)presentation of spatial categories in literature. The author penetrates into Tiberias, the place not to be missed by any of Lamartine, Słowacki, Hołowiński, Laasner, Skórzewski, Mann, or whoever else has travelled to and across the Holy Land. This piece of comparative studies is centred in particular on a phenotype of recorded impressions from that earthquake-smashed area, as depicted in Juliusz Słowacki’s letters and diary.
