Summary/Abstract: The work deals with the influence of the Byzantine, Greek-Orthodox culture, in particular the monastery, on the development of spirituality in the history of Ukraine. specificity and significance of monasticism is also considered as the spiritually-oriented social organization that operates against the background of a complex socio-economic evolution of European society. Methodology. The methodology of the study is to apply the comparative, historical and logical methods. Scientific novelty. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the socio-philosophical analysis of the influence of the Byzantine, Greek-Orthodox culture, in particular the monastery, on the development of spirituality in the history of Ukraine. Conclusions. The process of life on Mount Athos is different from the usual. Exclusively male population of Mount Athos, aimed at more than material wealth, status, comfort, external beauty, and so on. Thanks to the constant selfless work on your inner psychic and spiritual (mental) condition in synergy with the grace of God, the Holy Mountain monks attain purity of the souls, spiritual contemplation, satisfying their demands on personal life to the census.
