Summary/Abstract: In the article, the author tries to analyze Mykola Vorony thoughts of crisis of novice nonspiritual ideology of European arts in the XIX – XX centuries. The goal of the outstanding thinker was to develop fundamentally Ukrainian national theatre. The author of this article tries to understand the crisis of human conscious in the world, particularly, in European arts and ways to defeat it; the idea of worth to join the objective-rational world understanding. There is no right answer on the question if we need arts in the name of arts and arts with political and social character.
