Summary/Abstract: The notion of equivalence is widely understood as conveying the meaning of a text in the original language to the target one. However, press texts translation requires the translator to consider an additional factor, which is to refer the original text and its translation to a broadly defined narrative context. In this case, the search for equivalents does not touch upon vocabulary or phrasing accuracy, but a comparison of the different cultural contexts instead. In the following article, the author discusses the boundaries between equivalence and adaptation based upon French press titles and their translations available on the VoxEurop platform.
