Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the art of postmodernism and phenomenon of "double coding". On the basis of the definitions of "double coding" scientists attempt to analyze musical and choreographic works. Musical and choreographic art is represented by works of composers and choreographers of the late XX – early XXI century. The basic features of postmodern understanding of "double coding" in artistic practice. Study of the specificity of "double coding" in the art due to the fact that the problem of postmodernism in art is very broad, it is associated with issues related to the fundamental relationship of "culture-art-work-practice". Culture as part of the public space, as a sign system is the double standards at all levels of existence. The interpretation of signs often coincides with an ambivalent attitude to the values in the language of the question that Saussure considered from the standpoint of differences and oppositions. Therefore, a special form of signs and codes that appear in the process of transformation or coding (storage, broadcast information) is an actual problem of modern art history. If the encoding process goes through various stages of development, the code acquires new qualities, it is a characteristic artistic works, the encoding process can be called a "double-coded" in art. Code of culture in the creative process concentrates the artistic achievements and experiences, and in the art of code gets a particular expressiveness and emotional value. Or another example of post-modern understanding of creativity in the work of the gallery "Triptych", which embodies the pluralism in relation to the dialogue of classic and modern. According to the authors of the exhibition "The Magic of excellence", to see reality from different angles it coincides with the opportunity to combine paintings of Lviv artist "magical realist" Roman Zhuk and articles of jewelry design studio "ELIGIUS" (rose with diamonds, colored sapphires and topaz, etc.). Therefore, the study of contemporary art and the phenomenon of "double coding" is a hot topic of art. Most of the phenomenon of "double coding" the researchers considered in the context of postmodernism. The issue of "double coding" appears in the analysis of issues of postmodern art. The study of these questions deal with foreign and Russian scientists since the mid twentieth century (R. Barth, Charles Jencks, I. Ilyin, V. Lichkovah, V. Podoroga, D. Fokkema and others). The problem of "double coding" related to the specific works of art that appear during Transavantgarde and postmodernism. It shows art of the instability of the new system of values and search for like national identity and way of entering the European space. In such a situation in society and the special role of creativity gets personal position of the artist-postmodernist, which is to find a compromise between tradition and innovation in the category, form, genre, language. Therefore, the art of postmodernism different subjective perception of reality that gives rise to a duality of cultural classical, romantic codes. Applying semiotic methodological approach to the analysis of contemporary visual art Olga Petrova uses the concept of "Code Language of art". She said the art of developing the system on the basis of the dynamic contrast between the language and the code. Language – is the structure of historical memory, it protects and maintains the tradition. Code – only created artistic structure, sees beyond the tradition of striving for innovation. Just these two components form a " CodeLanguage of art". Language (vertical level) passes through the historical and cultural achievements of Ukrainian art, code (horizontal level) refers to the tools and techniques of art (techniques). Past experience in the postmodern text emerged from the cultural codes, which include artistic styles, traditions and formulas, rhythmic patterns, musical intonation. This eclectic mix of artistic creativity in the French theorist Jean Lipovetsky defines as the main feature of postmodernism and the "double coding" in relation to the past and present, tradition and innovation, modernity and postmodernity. Studying the work of Oleksandr Kozarenko, it is impossible to get around the concept of "double coding" Canadian psychologist Allan Paivio. According to him, the specific processing of visual and verbal information requires different systems of listeners / viewers / readers. These systems provide independent representation (verbal and visual codes). Visual code provides a solution to problems of simultaneous spatial plan. The cantata O. Kozarenko – is the presence of theater paraphernalia (costumes, make-up). Auditory and verbal codes provide a solution to problems of abstract symbols (of the intonations and genre features Baroque, Neo-Baroque).
