Summary/Abstract: This article presents a list of the elements that constitute the “epistemic frame of reference” for research practice in laboratory science. Reflection on the philosophical and methodological assumptions of laboratory science plays a significant role in the investigations on the origin and nature of scientific knowledge. Analysis of the specific research carried out in this discipline of natural science will help to some extent to have a broader look at a number of classical problems raised in the philosophy of nature and the philosophy of natural science. “Epistemic frame of reference for laboratory science” characterized in light of the concepts proposed by Ian Hacking will also shed light on the main assumptions of the philosophy of chemistry of Paweł Zeidler and the “grammar of laboratory sciences research practice” of Hasoka Chang.
