Summary/Abstract: The article is addressing the issue of identification, measurement and interpretation of environmental risk perception. The first part of the paper discusses the problem of risk perception and the perception of risk of ecological damage. The experimental part of the paper is focused on the analysis and interpretation of the survey. The aim of the study was to identify motivational factors of the inhabitants of the town of Iron Bridge, where the flotation tailings tank is located as a source of harmful effects on local residents and also as a potential cause of an environmental disaster. The study showed which socio-structural and psychological factors influenced the perception of the risk of ecological damage by residents exposed to the impact of the waste tank. Knowledge of environmental damage and possibility to measure the perception of ecological risk can become an important impulse to stop activities that destroy nature and to stop the negative impact on the health and life of people living in a given area.
