Summary/Abstract: Developing intelligent systems in cities are designed to facilitate and improve the lives of residents. We live in an environment of growing data infrastructures - Big Data − in the changing smart city of residence. The purpose of this article is to discuss the risk of living in such an environment. The research concerned the risk of living in a smart city, especially the security of the elderly, in a digital knowledge-based society. There are new challenges in terms of mobility, education or finances. At the same time it is impoertant to remember the basic health issues: personal health and the possibilities of improving it in terms of medical and pharmaceutical support, the safety of the senior’s environment − the place of residence and the environment (this module also includes personal safety) as well as personal security in the city.
