Summary/Abstract: Firstly, the article examines Herder’s take on the ›Enlightenment theology of wonder‹ (revelation, ›theologia naturalis‹, rationalism, supranaturalism, deism, neology, materialism, historical-critical Bible studies). Secondly, it explains the relationship between aesthetics in music and theology, thereby illuminating two aspects: The first aspect illustrates that the message of the Bible cannot be transmitted by means of propositional knowledge, but rather via enthusiastic-emphatic ahermenutic experience of experience. The second aspect illustrates that it is primarily music that enacts the possibility of experiencing the ambivalent experience of revelation and wonder.
