Summary/Abstract: Despite the common praxis of asserting that Desnica’s novel is defined by the temporal dimension, this article asserts the importance of its spatial dimension, developed through a disjointed suspension of linearity, signaling the performative repetition of the narrator’s traumatic experience. This poetic principle can be substantiated by Desnica’s non-fictional texts published simultaneously with "Proljeća Ivana Galeba". In these texts, the author underlines the role of the fragment which enables the spatialization of the linear. The fragment contributes to the rhythm of the text, which calls into question the strict division between literature and music.
