Summary/Abstract: The present paper probes into the way humoros exchanges among the protagonists in 'Grey's Anatomy' become a resourceful tool in delineating social identity and interpersonal rapports at work. Teasing and mocking remarks as well as scathingly critical or disdainful repartees constitute linguistic resources which, although expected to damage the interlocutor's face, often lead to engender solidarity and enhance empathy.
