Summary/Abstract: The Bulgarian policy towards the Gypsy minority during the years of socialism is a one of policy of inclusion. Some of the most useful information about implementation of that policy come from the state archive documents, the interviews with people who lived through these events, and also the so called “Gypsy newspapers”. The newspapers are a very good source about life and sentiments among the minority. They also create an accurate picture of achievements and failures of the governmental policy. The present article analyzes the content and significance of the two most popular “Gypsy newspapers” in socialist Bulgaria – “Romano esi” (“Gypsy voice”) and “Nov pat” (“New path”).
