The National Council of Libraries and the research activity in the field of librarianship in Romania

Summary/Abstract: Decalajul faţă de instituţiile ţărilor europene, determinat de asimilarea defectuoasă a unor elemente noi, a impus o serie de activităţi referitoare la informatizarea bibliotecilor, digitizarea documentelor şi adoptarea unor noi principii de marketing şi management. Este prezentat sistemul infodocumentar românesc şi transformările radicale ale acestuia. O analiză cantitativă efectuată pe baza articolelor din publicaţiile periodice de specialitate din ţara şi din străinătate pentru a stabili gradul de interes al specialiştilor faţă de problemele de actualitate ale sistemului infodocumentar a condus la raţionamentul ca preocuparea specialiştilor români şi străini este aceeaşi. Totuşi, numărul mic de articole scrise de specialiştii români atestă stadiul incipient al iniţiativelor privind activitatea de cercetare din domeniu. Luând în considerare situaţia cercetării în domeniul biblioteconomic, Comisia Naţională a Bibliotecilor lucrează la elaborarea Strategiei Sistemului Naţional al Bibliotecilor din România. Un rol aparte este acordat Direcţiei strategice 5, care urmăreşte introducerea activiăţii de cercetare ca activitate curentă în marile biblioteci din ţară, şi Direcţiei strategice 3, care se referă la cercetarea în domeniul prezervării şi conservării. The gap between Romanian institutions and the other European countries institutions, determined by a deficient assimilation of some of new factors, has required a number of activities relating to the library automation, document’s digitization and adoption of new management and marketing principles. The Romanian information and documentation system and its major changes are presented. A quantitative research realized upon the articles published in the specialized domestic and international periodicals with purpose to establish the interests of the experts regarding the nowadays questions of the information and documentation system has generated the opinion that Romanian and foreigner specialists have the same concerns. However, there is the small number of articles signed by the Romanian specialists certify to the incipient phase of the projects concerning the research activity in this field. Taking into consideration the research situation in the librarianship field, the National Council of Libraries is developing the Strategy of the Romanian National Libraries System. An important part is Directia strategica 5 that has in view the introduction of the research activity in the most important libraries of the country as current activity as well as Directia strategica 3 that refers to the research activity in the field of prezervation, conservation and maintenance.
