Summary/Abstract: The paper sets up a hypothesis that, in the contemporary world, large population remains an important element of national power. The authors of the paper want to point to the fact that current technological progress and the diffusion of knowledge and skills can frequently intensify the significance of large population in the world politics, which is testified by the examples of the two most populous states – China and India. The theoretical concepts highlighting the significance of large population, as well as the factors which can relativize large population as a factor of national power, are presented.
