Role of social participation in commune revitalization program in Wałbrzych for the years 2016–2025 on the example of microgrants

Summary/Abstract: Revitalization of Wałbrzych, the typical postindustrial, backwarded city is a priority for the local and central authorities, which is mentioned in the National Revitalization Plan. The chance for achieving success is to increase the value of local people in the process of co-deciding by working with local partnerships. The aim of the article is to present the role of social participation to which the government encourages by granting projects in “microgrant” program. Despite the relatively small amount of funding in relation to the total budget, the importance of the program is enormous. The author describes the program, its main rules, principles and projects chosen from selected areas in the context of social participation which has a significant function in the process of revitalization.
