СЕМАНТИЧКО РАЗЈЕДНАЧАВАЊЕ У НИЗУ ИМЕНИЧКИХ ДЕМИНУТИВА ИЗВЕДЕНИХ ОД ЈЕДНЕ ОСНОВЕ
SEMANTIC DIFFERENTATION IN A SERIES OF NOUN DIMINUTIVES DERIVED FROM ONE GENERATIVE BASE IN THE SERBIAN LANGUAGE

Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the process of desynonymization was observed among the noun diminutives derived from one generative basis in the Serbian language. The objective of the research is to point to those cases in which the synonymous relation is deviated. In order to observe the elements of (semantic) differentiation, we have examined: the process of formation and the morphological features of the diminutives, their polysemy, and their stylistic function. The research is completed with survey data based on the selected corpus. Corpus and survey research have shown that desynonimization is primarily a result of the variability of formation of diminutives derived from one generative basis, as well as the lexicalization process.
