Summary/Abstract: The article presents selected aspects of the development of residential real estate resources in Jelenia Góra, Legnica, Wałbrzych and Wrocław in the period 2001-2015. The significance of meeting the living needs results in the fact that this type of real estate is of particular importance for a consumer. As a result of interactions between real estate and their socio-economic environment the discussion covers the selected features which are characteristic for demography, job market and the tourist function of the studied cities. Due to the volume limitations of the article the problem of Local Spatial Development Plans was not covered. The research was based on the statistical data obtained from the Central Statistical Office. The research results indicate a great difference between the residential real estate resources of Wrocław and the resources of other Lower Silesian cities with county rights. The scale of the observed changes raises concerns. Wrocław is the leading city in terms of the increase in resources (over 66% of the usable floor area of apartments in the period 2001-2015), which means that maintaining the observed tendency will intensify the delamination of real estate resources at the disposal of the capital of the region and the other analysed cities.
