Writing about Writing. Academic Journals about Media and Journalism in Czech Republic and their Reflection of New Trends in Mass Communication

Summary/Abstract: The article deals first with the general characteristics of the contemporary epoch from the point of view of media studies and notes the changes that took place in the area of mass communication with the onset and rapid growth of digital "new" (internet) media. It draws attention to the currently published publications of Czech and foreign authors (translated to czech) dealing with the transformation of media relations and society under the influence of digital technologies. The core of this article is the presentation and the recapitulation of the activities of two specialist periodicals on the topic of masmedial studies that were based or still exists in the Czech Republic.
