Summary/Abstract: in this article the Author is presenting an image of the West that differs from the general view held in the Islamic World wherein the West is seen as one unitary region based upon Christian teachings. Author is of the opinion that the contemporary West is primarily a society that developed as a result of the Enlightenment which is considered by the author in accordance with Kant’s teachings that in its essence is a call for the mankind to use their reason. He also demonstrates how this very same enlightenment concept is essentially Islamic as the mankind is encouraged by Islam to use the reason since the creation of this world and how the reason was the very moving force of Islam. In support of this argument author brings quotations from the Qoran wherein people are instructed to use their reason.
