Summary/Abstract: This paper describes the demographic context of ageing in Australia, government responses, and the opportunities available for positive ageing and lifelong learning. Of particular interest is the growth of the University of the Third Age (U3A) movement in Australia, and the extent of older persons’ volunteerism.
