Summary/Abstract: Andrzej Nikodemowicz is one of the greatest Polish contemporary composers. His joyful youth had been impeded by Russian and German occupation. Afterwards, he endured the Soviet repressions due to his faith. Although he had talent and possibilities to become a great pianist, an arm injury caused by incorrect practicing forced him to give up the career of a pianist. As a composer, he longed to create the art based on his faith. However, in the Soviet Union he had no chance to succeed. Quite the contrary, he faced many persecutions: he lost his work at the Lviv Conservatory, his religious compositions could not have been performed and finally, all recordings of his music made by the local radio were destroyed. He decided to leave Lviv, his hometown, and come to Lublin, where he could lastly compose and perform his music. Undoubtedly, the faith was in Andrzej Nikodemowicz’s life that special thing, which helped him to get through repressions in Lviv, and then to spread his musical wings in Lublin.
