Summary/Abstract: Hydrogen sulphide is a commonly occurring component of biogas that causes atmospheric pollution and corrosion of equipment used in biogas plants. Its removal before further processing of biogas is therefore necessary for environmental and technical reasons. The paper presents a critical review of technologies that use solid sorbents. The next paper will discuss the chemical and biochemical processes taking place in liquid systems.
