Summary/Abstract: Practica publicării catalogului tezelor de doctorat este veche şi răspândită în bibliotecile universitare. Biblioteca Centrală a Universităţii de Medicină şi Farmacie „Carol Davila” conservă o importantă colecţie de teze de doctorat şi are misiunea de a valorifica ştiinţific asemenea colecţii, prin publicarea unui catalog care ilustrează o serie de aspecte din istoria şcolii medicale româneşti; aceste aspecte pot fi reconstituite pe baza ansamblului de informaţii cuprinse într-o asemenea lucrare. Politica de dezvoltare şi modernizare a serviciilor de informare şi documentare în domeniul ştiinţelor biomedicale, promovată de Universitatea de Medicină şi Farmacie „Carol Davila” din Bucureşti, prevede şi realizarea unei biblioteci virtuale a tezelor de doctorat, sarcină care revine bibliotecii universităţii. La U.M.F. Bucureşti, instituţie care aniversează în prezent 150 de ani de la înfiinţare, primele două teze de doctorat datează din 1873. În prezent, doctoratul este o formă de pregătire ştiinţifică post-universitară, în vreme ce licenţa reprezintă un titlu obţinut prin susţinerea examenului de absolvire a învăţământului superior. Multe dintre tezele de doctorat din colecţiile bibliotecii, pentru secolul al XIX-lea, corespund nivelului actual de licenţă. Autorul realizează o scurtă trecere în revistă a legislaţiei în acest domeniu, oferind o perspectivă evolutivă în scopul de a permite o comparaţie cu situaţia actuală şi o privire istorică. The practice of publishing the catalogue of doctoral theses is old and spread in university libraries. The Central Library of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” holds an important collection of doctoral theses and has the mission to enhance the value of such collections by publishing a catalogue that illustrates historical aspects of the Romanian medical school; these historical aspects may be reconstituted on the basis of the assemble of information contained in such a work. The policy of developing and modernizing the information and documentation services in the field of biomedical sciences, promoted by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” of Bucharest also establishes the development of a virtual library of doctoral theses. The University Library has the mission to achieve this project. At the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” of Bucharest, institution that currently celebrates 150 years since foundation, the first two doctoral theses date back to 1873. At present, the doctorate is a form of post-graduate scientific training, the graduate degree being obtained after graduating from of a higher institution. Many of the doctoral theses held by the library collections, for the XIX-th century, correspond to the current level of graduate degree. The author briefly reviews the legislation in the field, offering an evolutionary perspective in order to allow a comparison with the current situation and a historical view.
