Summary/Abstract: This paper is devoted to the 25th anniversary of the National ISBN Agency. It explores the agency’s role in the country’s book retail sector, identifies problems and prospects, and investigates its contacts with the International ISBN Agency. Special attention is paid to the National Register of Published Books in Bulgaria which is administered by the agency. The paper contains a graphic presentation of the number of registered publishers over the years and the books published. It provides a brief overview of the state of publishing activity in Bulgaria in the last 25 years.
