WAYS OF FORMATION OF CONJUNCTIVES IN THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

Summary/Abstract: The article presents ways of formation of conjunctives in the lexical system of the Russian language. In the Russian language system, there is a tendency for substitution of the synthetic government by analytical. The development of the process is considerably influenced by non-derivative (primary) and derivative prepositions. There appear to be two ways of formation of derivative conjunctives: transposition and diffusion. The potential for transformation that the prepositional-case constructions possess allows further formation of new conjunctives. The drifting of some derivative prepositions into conjunctions as the components of the latter can be qualified as the development of the linguistic sign. Conclusions: the research aims to draw linguists’ attention to the question of studying the processes of the formation of conjunctives at the level of the development system of conjunctives; the expanded study of the given problem may result in getting a complete picture of the evolution of auxiliary parts of speech in the Russian language; the carried out observation allows to suggest that the replenishment of the linguistic system with new lexical items is a continuous process.
