Eco-innovativeness and sustainable development of eco-clusters – in the context of energy cluster koncept

Summary/Abstract: The article characterises activity of Polish eco-clusters to a certain degree using renewable energy sources in the context of a legally determined concept of energy clusters. It emphasizes that eco-innovativeness and eco-development, as their key attributes, contribute to the creation of green economy. It is indicated by the strategic objectives of eco-clusters, namely: growth of competitiveness and innovativeness of local economy, increase in energy security, improvement of energy efficiency, minimisation of negative influence of energy sector on natural environment and activation of poorly developed regions. In view of the fact that investments related to green economy are capital intensive, they require local partnership and public support. The conducted desk research indicates that the necessity of meeting the European Union requirements in the area of utilising renewable energy sources stimulates the development of energy clusters basing on strategic potential and experience of eco-clusters.
