INSIGHTS OF CASE MANAGEMENT APPROACH: AS A DISCIPLINE OF STUDY AND AS A METHOD OF WORK IN CHILD PROTECTION

Summary/Abstract: Case management can be approached from a double perspective:as mandatory work method in child care services and also as studymatter for students enrolled in Social Work. Proper knowledge anduse of case management as coordination and integration method insocial services regarded as means of improving the beneficiaries`situation and development of abilities in case investigation are thecompetences aimed by Case Management study matter. Trainingand development of such competences are absolutely necessary tofuture social workers; however, the complexity of case managementprocedures makes it difficult to develop such competences withstudents. Thus, professors are challenged to point out very brieflynumerous actions, interventions, procedures conductedsimultaneously by specialists of various institutions.This study tries todraft a model of organizing course contents and seminar activitiesfor the subject matter Case Management, so that it would enhancethe understanding of case management as procedure/work method inchild care. I would like to focus on the use of modern, interactiveteaching methods but also on team work along with specialistsinvolved in case management services. The paper points out the mostimportant elements of case management used as study matter as wellas the difficulties that emerge while teaching it. We have to refer tothis method considering the complexity of the process of integratedservices for children in difficulty.
