Summary/Abstract: The study of comparative literature is a major component of thePhilology curriculum in higher education in Romania. As the mainobjectives of the comparative courses and seminars are crossculturaland interdisciplinary aspects of literature, students may havedifficulty in dealing with comparative literature issues. The articleaims to investigate Philology students’ perceptions of comparativeliterature classes from various angles, such as syllabus content,teaching methods and strategies used during courses and seminars,and learners’ awareness of the role of comparative literature indeveloping their cultural knowledge and critical thinking. Theanalysis of these perceptions may serve as a good starting point fordesigning effective comparative literature classes, helping instructorsin their endeavour to give students a better understanding andappreciation of this academic subject.
