Summary/Abstract: Possession of generic competences is recognized as a very important characteristic of future professionals in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT). There is a high pressure on higher education institutions (HEIs) to provide students with both technical knowledge and generic competencies. This study introduces a learning environment set in line with the principles of problem-based learning (PBL) aimed at raising students’ generic competences. Based on responses from 227 students, the results suggest that students perceive the set learning environment contributing to the development of a wide range of generic competences.
