Summary/Abstract: The article presents the problem of violence against the elderly. On the one hand the literature points to the need for autonomy, and on the other the necessity of taking care of the elderly. The problem of demarcation between the condition, in which senior should provide for himself, and condition in which an older person requires care and ensure its interests, remains unresolved.Aim of the study. 1. To determine whether the elderly are victims of violent behavior. 2. Knowing the opinion of older people on reduced quality of life and sense of use of financial statements. 3. Determine of who older people consider to be aggressors. 4. Determine whether violent behavior are reported to justice and prosecuted.The study was conducted in Silesia from February 2013 to June 2014. The study involved: 1) 200 elderly, 2) 50 family caregivers of older people, 3) 50 professional carers of the elderly, 4) 50 neighbors of the elderly.It has been observed that the elderly are victims of violent behavior, mostly in the realm of do's and don'ts, supervision of lifestyle, limiting elderly’s contacts. Older people have a sense of reduced quality of life and feel the use of financial resources. Most often people who manifest violent behavior towards older people are family carers. Violent behavior towards the elderly are often not reported to the judicial authorities. Older people do not report to anyone the fact occurrence of violence. The reason for concealing violence is also a fear that relations in the family will worsen, fear of the perpetrator and shame.Conclusions. 1) As older people are victims of violent behavior, they should be reached out to monitor the situation. 2) There should not be consent to the financial use of the elderly people by their families or carers. 3) We should develop a control system of care for the elderly, not to allow caregivers behave violently towards the elderly. 4) It is recommended to convince the elderly to report violent behavior to the judicial authorities
