Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to review selected European experience and the experience of Polish local government research quality of life at the local level of governance. The paper defines key categories for consideration, including the objective and subjective quality of life. It also includes an attempt to identify the most important assumptions of the application and benefits of this type of research.
