Summary/Abstract: In the present article we want to analyse the use of the cardinal numerals which are mostly used in the discourse. It is so because of their special way to express the notion of quantity. It is about those cardinal numerals which sometimes no longer express the exact quantity, but depending on the context where they are used, they appear with their own nuances borrowed from the context. Thus they produce different effects in the meaning as far as the notion of quantity is concerned. We speak about the effect of exaggeration, of diminishing or the comic effect.
