Summary/Abstract: The children are the apple of our eyes. They solidify the love between spouses. Christ, the perfect teacher, remarked the beauty and incorruptibility of children (Matthew 19, 14; 18, 3).The Mosaic Law cherished families with many children, these being the gift of God, thus the parents had the duty and responsibility of raising and educating them. In Psalms and in sapiential books a special attention is paid to the children-parents relationship, and vice versa, emphasizing the children's education in the spirit of divine wisdom. In the face of nonsensical, abusive and even criminal practises of the ancient pagan world, Christ The Redeemer takes a benevolent and appreciative attitude towards the little ones, taking them in His arms, blessing them and highlighting their purity and sensitivity. Saint Paul, the Apostle, the one who develops a plea for the Christian family, emphasizes parental responsibility for the growth, material maintenance and religious-moral education of children (Ephesians 6, 4). The importance granted by the New Testament and the Early Church towards the children results from the administration of the Holy Baptism, practice confirmed by the New Testament pages and that of the Tradition of the First Ages. The Church Fathers of the Early Church and those of "the Golden Age" pay special attention to raising and educating children in the spirit of Christian morality, thereby highlighting the responsibility of parents, that of catechetical schools and, in general, that of the Church through its representatives. Among them we mention: Saint Clement of Rome, Saint Polycarp of Smyrna, MinuciusVasile BORCA42 Studia Universitatis SeptentrionisSTUDIA1 (15)/2016Felix, Saint Cyprian of Carthage, Clement of Alexandria, the Cappadocian Fathers, Blessed Jerome and Blessed Augustine. In conclusion, when moulding a man of integrity it is necessary to raise and educate children on the basis of Christian principles, since religious education assures and opens a vast perspective of life, it offers not only the immanent, but also the perspective of eternity. Therefore, the utmost investment is that dedicated to raising and educating our children in the spirit of Christian morals.
