Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the urgent problem of reforming and convergence of the national system of technical regulation with the European one. The European food safety system is today one of the best in the world, and the European consumer is the most protected. The absence of an effective system of market surveillance in Ukraine leads to a decrease in the responsibility of producers to the consumer. Mass production of falsified and low-quality dangerous products threatens national security. The article proposes to introduce an adequate response of state technical regulation bodies to the relevant situation and to implement urgently needed measures to improve the food safety control system in Ukraine. It is proposed to organize a permanent monitoring of food markets and create an interdepartmental commission endowed with the necessary powers of a legal, administrative and economic nature. State bodies of executive power, as well as producers, should be faithful to comply with the requirements of legislation when testing and manufacturing quality food products, then our country will achieve greater success both in the economy and in the safety of human nutrition.
