DEVELOPMENT PROJECT MANAGEMENT IN PUBLIC SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents the postulates of the New Public Management concept. The aim of this paper is to outline the essence of the development project management in the process of service rendering. A specific character of services requires entrepreneurship and undertaking new initiatives which would enable development and market expansion. In view of a competitive fight, original ventures called projects gain more and more significance. In services, priority is given to development projects which ensure existence, development and market expansion of an organization as well as create its image and bring about financial profits. This paper presents some aspects of development project management and focuses on problems of development project management in public organizations.
