Conceptualization of term "thinking style"

Summary/Abstract: This article deals with analysis of the theoretical concepts in order to identify the essence of the thinking style phenomenon. Within this research the concept "thinking style" is considered. One of the major factors that makes style researches actual is interest in human identity and conviction in existence of peculiar forms of understanding of reality which are inherent to all people, solutions of objectives, creativity. It is necessary to consider various forms of the practical organization of thinking as subject reality of style aspects studying in historical and logical-gnoseological foreshortenings of personal cultural development of reality. The concept "thinking style" is used for full and comprehensive justification of how the person thinks, how ideas are created and new theories are appeared, how traditions and cogitative templates are formed. Studying of thinking and laws of new knowledge formation is possible at understanding of what contribution the personality introduces to it. Intrinsic characteristics of a phenomenon "thinking style" were revealed as a result of theoretical researches within the various humanitarian subjects. Initial system idea of thinking style is formed in esthetic, historical and culturological theories. Active operating by knowledge within achievements of culture according to level of its spiritual development opens the potential of stylistic peculiarities of thinking. In social and philosophical researches the thinking style is considered as "the model of the world" which is defined by sociocultural common living conditions. The concept "scientific thinking style" in gnoseology and the theory of knowledge means an original way of learning activity of the subject. There is the concept "cognitive style" in applied psychological researches which is used in a context of studying of features of personal mental system functioning. Large number of definitions of the concept "thinking style" is connected with existence of the different parties of its judgment not only in separate sciences, but also in private researches. Among intrinsic characteristics of thinking style it is possible to define the following: - thinking style associates a certain notion of the world owing to specifics of its individual reflection and interpretation; - thinking style is external individual way, method of thinking; - thinking style includes estimates and standards, which are allowed to supervise the process of thought and to estimate its results; - thinking style concludes the potential of creative transformation of ideas about the world; - peculiar lines and creative opportunities of thinking style of the personality are formed as a result of interference of objectified thinking style and individual cognitive style, and also its values, representations, attitudes; - objectified thinking style – result of people aspirations during the actual historical period with accounting of current sociocultural conditions. This style with accounting of continuity is changed from generation to generation in the conditions of mankind progress. For understanding of how external sociocultural predefiniteness refracts in individual consciousness and how individual thinking style is formed, it is necessary to define structural components of thinking style. Components of thinking style: 1. Substantial component. Thinking style associates a certain outlook, and in this sense it is connected with the individual scheme of ideas of the world, i.e. image of the world of the personality. Thinking style from a position of this component carries out world outlook function. 2. Methodological component. Thinking style includes an arsenal of methods, ways of the tasks solution concluding a peculiar strategy of thinking, which is its active component. This component specifies that thinking style carries out the methodological function consisting in use of individual strategy in the course of information processing, incoming from environment and which is available in memory. 3. Evaluative component. Thinking style leans on system of estimates of own achievements. The estimating component shows heuristic function of thinking style. The integrated set of all components in its certain condition defines specifics of subjective cogitative activity.
