Summary/Abstract: The article consists of two parts which characterise financial conditions for cluster development and the activity of Polish clusters’ coordinators as regards financial resources management. Scientific considerations were conducted on the basis of the results of theoretical and desk research. Development financing still constitutes a strategic challenge that cluster coordinators face. Undertaking numerous actions to develop clusters steadily, they take advantage of public (open and temporary) and private financing. The system of financing cluster activity changes according to the clusters’ life-cycle phase. Desirable method of cluster financing is the development of a self-financing model adequate to the characteristics of a particular cluster, basing, among others, on the resources of its members or the results of cluster economic activity. It is promoted by public authorities, according to the belief that permanent public financing can lead to low efficiency of cluster management.
