Observations of Bulgarian Practice

Summary/Abstract: The publication summarizes major trends in Bulgarian library field observed during the past few years as regards marketing and PR, planning, financial reporting, efficiency and quality assessment. The topic is related to the role of innovations in the process of adapting libraries to the changing environment. It refers to achievements and practical problems encountered by seven regional, three University, the National, the Sofia City, several departmental and community center libraries. Conclusions are, also, drawn based on materials from the Annual Conferences of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association, “Biblioteka” magazine and “BLIA online”, from conferences held at the University of Library Studies and Information Technologies on 1 November, from “Libraries, reading, communications” in Veliko Turnovo and from other published materials.
