Summary/Abstract: The article presents the characteristics of General and vocational education of prisoners as the Foundation of their social rehabilitation of socio-cultural. The author argues that socio-cultural problems of modern Ukrainian society enough to significantly affect special contingent of people – criminals who are in places of deprivation of liberty. Some of them feel the need to exercise your constitutional rights to study, but others do not want to continue it. The author argues that monitoring the level of education of criminals deprived of their liberty, the use of existing knowledge in practice, has not only economic, but also the importance of mentoring in the process of social rehabilitation of offenders. It is a fact that their quick inclusion to productive work, acceptance of work on previously obtained a profession, the opportunity to Express themselves in more effective work with existing qualifications, the possibility of receiving large earnings inside prison walls create greater psychological comfort and significantly affect the effectiveness of the educational process criminals.
