Summary/Abstract: The text is devoted to the history and present state of the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature “M. I. Rudomino” – Moscow. It is a major international cultural, educational, information and research centre. The unique profile of its collections and its multi-aspect activity have rendered it a special place among Russian libraries. The author pays tribute to the initiator of the establishment of the Library and its longterm director M. I. Rudomino, to E. Yu. Genieva and V. V. Duda who have carried forward her work. The paper looks into the contemporary good practices within the Library.
