Summary/Abstract: The main object of this paper is to create a biographical study following the life story of the gestapo and SS officer Kriminalinspektor and SS-Obersturmführer Franz Langer, with the primary focus being on his career during World War II. During the war Langer served in the Gestapo-Außendienststelle Olmütz (Gestapo field office in Olomouc) as a deputy chief. The main sources for this paper are postwar investigation files stored in the Olomouc office of Provincial Archives Opava (archival collection of the Extraordinary People’s Court in Olomouc), supplemental information was found in Security Services Archive, Prague. The main contribution of this study lies in mapping Langer’s career, as this topic has been studied only marginally so far.
