Summary/Abstract: The area of Macedonia is represented on multiple maps created by Arab and Persian geographers in the Middle ages. This is due to the extremely important location and other natural and geographical characteristics of Macedonia, but also due to the famous past as one of the most important countries in ancient times. I believe that it is of exceptional importance to research the maps and the geographical descriptions of Macedonia made by the Arab and Persian geographers. Except the valuable information and descriptions of the settlements, it’s especially important that we are able to follow the continuity of Macedonia, without interruptions, from the ancient times to today. During the analysis, the famous geographers of the time were consulted. Special attention was devoted to al-Idrisi as the most important geographer and cartographer from those times. In the middle of the XII century he created the map “Tabula Rogeriana” and the work “Nuzhat al-mushtaq fi'khtiraq al-afaq”. With all its specifics, this work contains important data, in which is a hint of our medieval toponyms, but also information about certain places and areas, about the occupation and the culture of the population, which makes it an important historical source. In this way we want to turn the attention to this, for the Macedonian public less familiar period. We hope that this scientific work will be only the beginning of the researches on the maps, manuscripts and the printed geographical works written in Arabic.
