120 years Bulgarian national bibliography

Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the emergence, development and affirmation of the current national bibliography as a multifunctional information system. Issues related to the interaction between legal deposit legislation and the scope of the current national bibliography are discussed. The principles of document selection are justified. The paths through which their formal and semantic processing has undergone, their differentiated allocation to special departments, or individual bibliographic bulletins, and the development of various indexes are specified. The changes occurring in the optimal model of the current national bibliography in the developing information environment are traced.
