Summary/Abstract: According to Catholic theology, religion has a certain role to play in politics, but within the strict confines. Catholic politician should advocate the inclusion and preservation of the objective moral norms, derived from the natural law, in the civil law and social life, and act prudently for the common good. His adherence to this rule marks one of the boundaries within which his religious convictions influence his political activities. He should be aware at all times that he is accountable not only to society and courts, but, first and foremost, to God.
