Summary/Abstract: The period when Romania was under the influence of the communist regime was characterized by an economic development especially after Ceausescu came to power in 1965. The new president desired to give a rapid impulse to the economical growth in order to reach an European level. But for all these to happen was necessary that all capable people would work. So women, both from rural and urban areas, became an active element in the working field not just in the household. Their transformation was fast and at a large scale. They were introduced in the most diverse areas of the economy and industry: from gastronomy to heavy machinery and petrol. Women were not exempt from work.
