Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to study the Cyrillo-Methodian mission from the perspective of Constantinople, both from a historical, doctrinal and theological angle to understand ancient Slavic written production. In particular, the author focused on historical circumstances and time of composition of the Greek original of Symeonic Florilegium. In the seventies of the ninth century Photius or his associates may have completed and dedicated the Sotirius to the empress Eudoxia Ingerina, planning to use it to train missionaries destined to work with new peoples, from the Ros and the Protobulgarians to the Slavs.
