Summary/Abstract: The study explores, by answering the question „What if the entire era of geographic discoveries had not been present in European history?” the major political and geo-strategic consequences of the talent, determination and positive stubborness of Prince Henry The Navigator of Portugal, the founding father of the Portugese long distance sea expeditions and, in this capacity, one of the most important promoters – and catalysts – of what we call today The Geographic Discoveries. Most probably, states the author, without Henric the Navigator, Christian Europe – completely lacking the gold and silver brought from the New World, which might have remained undiscovered for several hundred years – could have lost the stategic competition with the mighty Ottoman Empire.
