Regional Museum in Changing Europe – Potential and Expectations

Summary/Abstract: Regional museums have a lot to offer to modern Europe. They work in favour of integration which is interpreted as a mutual understanding. They can weaken the negative consequences of globalization, such as the identity crisis and the deficit of social capital, by means of exhibitions and educational activities. The ideal would be to have museums which would stay in a synergistic contact with other cultural institutions, creating a cohesive tourist offer of regions and boosting the welfare of local communities.
