Summary/Abstract: The article looks into concepts of the illustration of books for children. It also shows the role of historical, cultural and artistic heritage in the creative work of the artist, stylistic features and techniques of making illustrations in revealing artist’s idea in terms of the Russian artists of the late XIX – early XX century.
