Summary/Abstract: This brief essay lists and comments the most important risks a nation (and a national economy) has to cope with: the domestic ones and those coming from abroad. The author clearly states that economic risks and threats are enormously important for any actor of the international arena. The conclusion is that national economies can be protected by an active foreign policy, able to forge and implement useful treaties and to properly use alliances in order to enhance national interests.
